The short answer

The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is at 2900 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx, open 10am to 6pm Tuesday to Sunday and on select Monday holidays. Pricing is layered, so read it twice. At the time of writing the All-Garden Pass is $35 for adults and $15 for children on weekdays ($39 and $17 at weekends). New York City residents can buy a Grounds Access Pass at $15 for adults and $4 for children 2 to 12.

What it is like

The cheat code is Wednesday: Grounds admission is free to NYC residents all day and to everyone else between 10am and 11am. Free covers the grounds, though, not the extras, so check what your ticket includes before you set off for the Everett Children's Adventure Garden or any special exhibition.

The Holiday Train Show is the season to know about. Last year it ran from Saturday, November 15, 2025 to Sunday, January 11, 2026, with daytime tickets starting at $25; I could not find the 2026 to 2027 dates on the pages I could load, so check nybg.org before planning. Honest advice for the rest of the year: it is a very large garden, and a four-year-old's stamina is not. Choose one or two areas and sit down.

Best time to go

A Wednesday for the free grounds window; November to January for the trains.

Tips before you go

  • Check which ticket includes the Everett Children's Adventure Garden.
