Hands-on science museum in Queens, with rocket mini golf. Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens.

NYSCI, the New York Hall of Science, sits in Flushing Meadows Corona Park at 47-01 111th Street in Queens. It is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. At the time of writing general admission is $22 for adults and $19 for children, students and seniors, and there is a pricier NYSCI Plus ticket ($33 and $30) that adds the theater and activities.
The best money-saver is the free window: every Friday from 2pm to 5pm admission is free for all visitors, with reservations opening at 10am the same day. Set an alarm. Saturdays 10am to 11am are sensory sensitive hours, which is a thoughtful touch for children who find a loud science museum a lot. Children under 18 need an adult with them.
Outside is Rocket Park, where the mini golf is $6 a person (cheaper for members). It is nothing to do with the museum ticket, so you can do the golf alone, and I would: putting under actual rockets is exactly the sort of thing a seven-year-old will bring up at school on Monday. Check the mini golf's season and hours before you plan a day around it. The Queens Museum and its Panorama are in the same park, which makes a good second stop.
Wednesday to Friday mornings; Friday 2pm to 5pm is free but busy.
