What it is like

General admission is $15 per person, members are free, and Community Access Thursdays are free from 2pm to 5pm, courtesy of Amazon. Tickets show a suggested arrival time, but you can arrive any time during museum hours that day. For a family of four, the Thursday window is an easy way to see it without the bill.

The practical side is better than most. The museum says it is fully stroller accessible throughout, with limited stroller parking, and there is an elevator. All restrooms are ADA accessible, with four all-gender restrooms on the second floor, and there is a private Mamava breastfeeding station in the lobby. Sensory kits are available on request.

Eating is only allowed on the rooftop terrace and in the second-floor cafe; closed-container drinks are welcome, open cups are not. Plan snacks around that, and plan on a toddler who will want to go round twice.

Best time to go

Wednesday to Friday mornings; Thursday 2pm to 5pm if you want it free.

Tips before you go

  • Try Community Access Thursdays (2pm to 5pm) for free entry.
  • Stroller parking is limited; the museum suggests leaving big strollers at home where you can.
  • Eat on the rooftop terrace or in the second-floor cafe only.
  • Ask for a sensory kit if your child needs one.
