The Intrepid Museum is built around the aircraft carrier Intrepid at Pier 86 on the Hudson, with the Space Shuttle Pavilion and the Growler submarine on the same ticket. General admission covers all three plus temporary exhibitions. It is open daily 10am to 5pm (last entry an hour before closing) and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Tickets: adults 13 to 64 $38; seniors 65 and over and college students $36 with ID; children 5 to 12 $28; children 4 and under free; US veterans and military free with ID. NYC residents get 50% off general admission with valid photo ID, which is a real saving for local families. The museum says the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Strollers, large bags and luggage are not permitted in the submarine or the Concorde, and belongings must stay with you at all times; there is no bag or coat check. Food comes from the Intrepid Marketplace and the Aviator Grill, with vending machines on the pier and flight deck. Kids Week runs in February (February 14 to 21 in 2026).
It is not on a subway line. You can ride the NYC Ferry to Midtown West at W 39th Street (Pier 79) and walk 10 to 15 minutes, or take the subway to 42 St-Port Authority or 34 St-Hudson Yards and walk about two-thirds of a mile. It is for children who like machines; for the ones who don't, the Space Shuttle will do some of the persuading.
